With the festival season nearing around, comes the emotional connect with each of them. In India, several festivities are celebrated creating a sense of high spirits and joy among everyone. One of the many is – Ganesh Chaturthi. A festival full of positivity, prayers and empowerment.
Ganesh Chaturthi is one amongst the consecrated Hindu festivals of the country. It is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. This Indian festival is celebrated with great pomp across the country and the state of Maharashtra is at the top when it comes to most enthusiasm.
People celebrate the festival by various means. The main ritual is the Ganesh Sthapna where we welcome Ganesh ji at our homes, temples and various religious places. People bring in decorative and present the sthapna area with all the decorative, sweets, flowers and much more. It is an exciting event for the devotees, as it brings in so many positive vibes and happiness.
After the sthapna, many continue with the celebration in a variation of days-1.5 days, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days and even 10 days. Each day is followed by making new sweets and delicacies (prasaad) and aarti is conducted with immense devotion and love for the Lord. As amazing as it sounds, there is no doubt in the fact that Ganesh Chaturthi stands as one of the favourite and most emotionally connected festival for many.
Importance & Celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi
According to an ancient story, Goddess Parvati made Ganesha out of sandalwood to guard privacy while taking a bath. At that point, Ganesha halts Lord Shiva from entering the place. Angry, Lord Shiva beheaded the child (Ganesha). When Goddess Parvati came to know about the incident, she was left heartbroken, Lord Shiva promised to bring back Ganesha to life. The followers of Lord Shiva could only find an elephant’s head though they searched for a child’s head. Hence, Lord Ganesha came back to life with the head of an elephant.
The event of Ganesh Chaturthi is considered to be one the most important festivals among all not only because it primarily celebrated on the occasion of birth of Lord Ganesha but also, it symbolizes wisdom, prosperity, positivity, empowerment and good fortune.
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated across the nation publicly to unite all the communities and bridge the gap between people. It is celebrated in a grand way in Maharashtra and the celebration there is widely known.
It remains as the prominent is one of the most prominent festivals of India. People of India wait the whole year for this festival eagerly.
